First Marquee Wedding

Updated: Dec 16, 2019

First Wedding Carrick Castle Estate are delighted to announce that we have successfully held our very first wedding here at the lodge. Saturday 21st April marked the first event we have held on the estate, a beautiful rustic marqueewedding on our newly turfed lawns. Susannah and David Howard, the newlywed couple, brought family and friends from all over the UK including Manchester and Ireland, to Carrick Castle for their big day. And their reward was immense – the weather was, by some stroke of incredible luck, absolutely fantastic. The warmest and driest day we have had this year. The guests were blown away by the beauty of Argyll’s rugged hills. The warm Scottish hospitality was appreciated by all. The welcoming locals and especially our understanding neighbours who put up with the increased traffic and amplified music on Saturday night all helped to make the event a seamless one.

We give all our congratulations to the happy couple for a prosperous future together. Susannah and David worked hard planning their big day, and did much of the work themselves, even bringing up much of the equipment from their home town and setting up the venue themselves. They had a supportive and hardworking team behind them, however, with a special mention going to Penny the wedding planner who ensured the smooth running of the day from start to finish. The decor and rustic theme was beautifully in keeping with the estates wedding style, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect first wedding - we can't wait to see the photos.

Local Community A special thanks goes to Jean Murray who assisted the bride with the hiring of the community bus, and a huge thanks to David Fox who tirelessly drove our guests up and down between Carrick Castle and Lochgoilhead for three days straight. Thank you to everyone who accommodated the wedding guests in B&B’s and holiday rentals, especially Leonard Gow at Lochgoilhead Holidays and Jai at Carrick Farm who apparently does a fantastic cooked breakfast. Thank you to Fyne Ales for supplying the bar and treating our guests to our fantastic award-winning local ale, Jarl.

Wedding Suppliers Thank you to our wedding suppliers who have supported us from the start and at last we could hold an actual event together: Tents and Events in Dunoon, the Woodland Florist, Stuart at 1500 Photography and LeeAnne Fraser Make Up Artist in Cairndow.

We were also lucky enough to be filmed for a new program coming to TLC, details of which will be posted on our facebook page later on in the year.

Thank you again to everyone involved, and we hope this will be the first of many fantastic weddings and events to come to the shores of Loch Goil, at Carrick Castle Estate.
