Small and Intimate

Small and Intimate Wedding We are always the first to say that it took couples a tremendous leap of faith to book Carrick Castle Estate as their wedding venue before a wedding had even taken place , and our very first small and intimate wedding was no exception. Without having seen a single wedding shot of the lodge, Angie and Stuart popped up to the lodge for an unannounced viewing in 2017 when the venue was still far from ready, and I never imagined that first meeting would result in such an exquisite day in June 2018.

Both Angie and Stuart were a pleasure to plan with, from the start they made it clear they wanted a DIY wedding with a family and friends orientated weekend. The decor and flowers and numerous special touches were all handmade by the couple and their friends. The weather was fantastic and allowed for an outdoor ceremony on the top balcony giving the couple and their 26 guests spectacular loch views. Chloe at Buck's photography took the couple onto the grounds for some romantic shots of the couple together, and a beautiful group shot of the couple on the top lawn whilst the guests stood looking down from the balcony. The VIP guest arrival was Tilly the Golden Eagle who had been filming on the estate with her owner Lloyd Buck. Stuart looked extremely comfortable and laid back holding the 4.5kg bird, who is much more accustomed to being a star on television productions for wildlife programs than being a photographed wedding guest. I have no doubt she will be at the top of the guest list of future bridal couples to come.

With the formal part of the day over, the party began. The reception took place in the lodge itself with the whole family being seated around one dining table, just as Angie had always envisioned. The party continued through the evening to the early hours with a disco taking place in the open plan drawing room. The beautifully furnished lounge doubles up as a perfect dance space when the chesterfields are pushed to the side, with the baby grand piano remaining a feature throughout.

We were delighted to see that Angie and Stuart's wedding was published in the September/October issue of Tie the Knot Scotland due to the unique style of their day and the beautiful shots captured by Buck's Photography. We hope it will be the first of many small and intimate weddings to come, here at Carrick Castle Estate.
